Welcome Back to School!




WELCOME BACK!
I hope everyone had a great summer!
I’m looking forward to a fun year teaching grade 3!
Each month, please visit this website to find out what’s going on in room 200 and at 
Sawmill Creek Elementary School.
I will also post student work and other photos.

School starts at 8:00am, and ends at 2:30pm.

We do are not handing out agendas this year. Students will have an Agenda Notebook
Writing in this is the best way to get in contact with me.

Students will bring home a book and a red At Home Reading Folder each night. Please read with your child every night and help them remember to bring the book and folder back to school each day.

Please remember to send indoor shoes with your child to help keep our 
school and classroom clean.
Please pack a healthy lunch, with no peanut or nut products, for your child each day.

Meet the Teacher Night is Thursday, September 27th.

June in Ms. Robinson's Classroom

Hello June!


June Classroom Reminders
Gym: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Library books are now due in the library. Please make sure your son/daughter has returned his/her library book and paid any damage fees.
Please make sure your child has comfortable outdoor shoes that they can run in. Students must have indoor shoes.

It's May in Ms. Robinson's Classroom!


May Classroom Reminders
Gym: Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
Library Wednesdays. Students must carry their library books in a plastic bag at all times.
Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. Layers are great even in May.
Students must have indoor shoes.



May Holidays and Activities
Friday, May 4: DANCEMANIA!! Parents are welcome to watch the dancing!
EQAO Provincial Testing begins at the end of the month. More details to come...


Literacy
Writing: continuing to write paragraphs with a topic sentence, 2-4 sentences explaining, describing and a closing sentence
Poetry writing

Math
Transformations: flips, slides, turns (reflections, translations, rotations)
Mass (measuring in kilograms - kg and grams- g) and 
Capacity (measuring in millilitres – mL and litres - L)
Multiplication using arrays and Division using pictures
Fractions – parts of a whole

Literacy
Creative writing stories
Persuasive writing – writing to persuade or convince someone to do something
Learning about life in a tropical rainforest

Math
Money up to $10
Students will name coins and bills, count money and begin to make change
Probability
Determining the chance of an outcome using probability vocabulary:
certain, likely, equally likely, unlikely, impossible
Determining if games/spinners are fair

I've also added some new links for online money games, so students can practice recognizing coins and bills and counting money


Social Studies
Pioneers and Early Settlers in Upper Canada
Learning about life for Early Settlers in Ontario. Students write about how pioneer lives were the same and how they were different than our lives today
