February in Ms. Robinson's Classroom!


February is the shortest month of the year, but one of the busiest!
There’s a lot to learn and to celebrate in the month of February.

February Classroom Reminders:

Gym is Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
Library is Wednesday.
Students must always carry their books in a plastic bag.
Students need to dress for cold weather, including snowpants.
Students must have indoor shoes.

February Holidays and Activities

February is Black History Month
Visit the Greenboro Library to find books about interesting people in history 
who helped change the world

February 2nd –> Groundhog Day
February 9th –> 100’s Day Activities
February 9th – 25th  –> Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, South Korea
February 14th –> Valentine’s Day
February 16th –> Chinese New Year
It’s the year of the Dog
February 19th –> Family Day (no school)



Literacy
Reading: Martin’s Big Words,  
Writing: Imagine you are in a snowglobe


Math
2D and 3D Geometry
Polygons are closed shapes with 3 or more sides
Quadrilaterals are shapes with 4 sides 
(square, rectangle, trapezoid, rhombus, parallelogram, kite)


Social Studies/Science
Science- Forces that make objects move
*push, pull, magnetism, gravity, friction, static electricity*
